How to get started with Tumblr
- First, follow about a hundred blogs on Tumblr. Don't overthink it — just keep following. Look at a few of someone's posts and if you feel even a flicker of “that’s nice” or “that suits me”, follow them. Unfollow when you get bored.
- Use Reblog Machine and reblog, reblog, reblog. Whatever hits you in the gut, reblog it. What you reblog is reposted to your own Tumblr blog. There is a limit of 250 a day, though. Once that stops being enough, sign up for Tumblr Premium and you can post 500 a day.
- When you start thinking “nothing recent is any good”, use Shuffle. It time-travels you to some moment in the past, and you dive on from there.
- “Wait, didn’t I reblog this before?” Don't worry about it. If you want it right now, reblog it.
- Someone will see your Tumblr blog and follow you. There is no rule and no etiquette that says you have to follow back. If their stream suits you, follow them. If it doesn't right now, don't. That's all. There is nothing to worry about.
- Reblog a lot, a lot, and fill your blog with the things you love.
About Reblog Machine
Reblog Machine is a reblogging tool by a reblog junkie, for reblog junkies: it moves through your Tumblr dashboard at very high speed and reblogs at very high speed. One post fills one screen, and the keyboard moves you and reblogs for you. Because you can browse this fast, what you feel lands immediately — and that feels good.
The first version was built in 2012 and shut down a few years ago. In 2026 it was rebuilt from scratch and brought back.
What it does
- Walks your dashboard one post per screen
- Images are fetched in advance, so moving on never makes you wait
- Reblog (published or draft) and like with a single key
- Dive — when you reach the end, it goes and fetches the next stretch (further back) all at once
- Shuffle — jump somewhere between 2007 and now. You can never land in the same place twice
- Dive from a date — from 0:00 on the day you pick
- Narrow by type — All / Photos / Video / Text
- Honestly, just try it and you'll see

You can change the bindings on the settings screen. The table above is how they start.
The mouse wheel moves you back and forth as well (you can turn that off in the settings).
What it does not do
- Reblogging with tags or a comment, scheduling, deleting posts.
That is not what this is for, so it is left to Tumblr itself.
After you reblog, a link appears that takes you to the post - Hoarding posts. Nothing you look at is stored anywhere
Things to keep in mind
- Reblogging has a daily limit on Tumblr's side.
When you hit it, the time until it resets is shown at the bottom of the screen - If you check Shared computer when you log in, you are signed out when the browser closes
- Log out from the type selection screen.
Pressing it also clears what is kept on this side (the authorization on Tumblr's side is removed from Tumblr's settings)
